The Catherine Darcy Sampler is worked in shades of cream and white in a wide variety of threads on a cream linen base. The design is worked in cross stitch, eyelet stitch, back stitch and satin stitch. The pulled thread effect is achieved using some of these stitches. The rich ‘brocade’ effect of the border is achieved by working cross stitch in perle cotton, then edging it using back stitch in silver thread.

Stitched on 32 count Zweigart cream linen, using DMC stranded – Ecru, 842, 3823; Dmc Perle #5 – Ecru, 543; DMC Flower thread – Blanc, 2842; Marlitt viscose thread – 1012, 800; DMC D283 Silver thread.
